Cheryl Miller’s career in education has spanned both K12 and higher education, state and local levels, and the nonprofit sector. As the Associate Dean and Chief Operating Officer for the University of Denver College of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences, Cheryl provides strategic leadership, planning, and execution for the College. Cheryl directs the Business & Operations, Graduate Recruitment, and Marketing & Communications Teams at the College and is responsible for all financial and HR functions.
Cheryl’s career at the University of Denver began at the Sturm College of Law where Cheryl served as the Assistant Dean of Business and Operations. In partnership with senior leadership, Cheryl supported the teaching, learning, and scholarship activities of the College through sound fiscal management. Cheryl’s specific portfolio included finance, budget, human resources, educational technology, and facilities management.
Prior to joining the University of Denver, Cheryl was the President and CEO of RMC Health, a professional services firm that operates at the intersection of K12 education and public health. Notably, Cheryl significantly increased earned-revenue, liquidity, and reserves. Previously, Cheryl was the Chief Operating and Financial Officer for MindSpark Learning, responsible for all aspects of the business, including financial management systems, operating procedures, and corporate governance structures.
In the public sector, Cheryl served as the Assistant Director of Grants and Federal Programs for Aurora Public Schools, where she steered the district’s strategy for pursuing supplemental grant funding and oversaw the financial management of a $35M annual grant portfolio. At the Colorado Department of Education, Cheryl worked in the Federal Programs unit and directed the annual distribution of $165 million in federal funding, including fiscal compliance, program monitoring, and data reporting.
Cheryl attended the University of Michigan where she graduated with High Distinction with a degree in English Language and Literature and Secondary Education Certification. She is also a proud alumna of the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, where she served as the managing editor for the Water Law Review and was admitted to the Order of St. Ives. Upon graduation, she had the honor of clerking for the Colorado Court of Appeals.
Cheryl also serves on the board of Great Education Colorado. Previous board leadership includes serving as both the Board Chair and Vice President of Finance for a K12 independent school in Denver and on the Advisory Board of Allergy Safe Kids. Cheryl is a graduate of the Denver Metro Chamber Leadership Foundation’s Leadership Denver and Civic DNA Fellows programs.
