Expanding Access to Justice for Veterans

Since its founding as a legal clinic in 2015, the Rocky Mountain Veterans Advocacy Project (RMVAP) has been dedicated to bridging the gap in legal services for Veterans in rural and underserved areas. Our mission is to ensure that all Veterans, regardless of location or circumstances, have access to the legal support they need.

Comprehensive Legal Clinics for Veterans

RMVAP hosts monthly legal clinics at Mt. Carmel Veterans Services Center, offering assistance with VA benefits appeals, discharge upgrades, family law, and estate planning. These clinics provide vital support to Veterans navigating complex legal challenges. To reach Veterans experiencing or at risk of homelessness, we also host discharge upgrade clinics at the Denver VA Community Resource and Referral Center (CRRC). In the coming year, the RMVAP will add virtual clinics to both Mt. Carmel and the CRRCs across the state to reach more Veterans who are otherwise unable to access legal services.

We proudly participate in Stand Down events statewide, providing on-the-spot legal assistance to homeless Veterans in Denver, Aurora, Colorado Springs, Montrose, Rifle, and other locations. These efforts aim to address immediate legal barriers and pave the way for long-term stability.

Expanding Outreach to the Navajo Nation

In 2024, RMVAP extended its reach by launching legal clinics to serve Veterans within the Navajo Nation. Through clinics held 2-3 times per year, we now provide dedicated representation and legal assistance to ensure these Veterans have access to critical resources. In 2025, the RMVAP will have a clinic in Navajo Nation over spring break, which will give attorneys and law clerks from the University of Denver the opportunity to reach more remote areas of Navajo Nation.

Reaching Rural Communities

As part of our ongoing commitment, RMVAP is expanding its services to Southern and Eastern Colorado and the Western Slope. By partnering with VA resource centers, we are bringing legal clinics to Byers, Pueblo, and Grand Junction in 2025, ensuring that even remote communities receive the legal support they deserve.

Join Us in Making a Difference

At RMVAP, we believe no Veteran should face legal challenges alone. Through our outreach and partnerships, we continue to make meaningful strides in providing accessible, high-quality legal services to those who served our nation.
